The former Gladys Chouinard was born on July 10, 1919 in Flat Rock, Michigan, daughter of the late Joseph and Dorothy (Gamelin) Chouinard. She entered the convent in 1937 and professed her vows in 1940. Sister St. Louis earned a Bachelor Degree from Holy Family College and a Masters Degree from Marquette University, Milwaukee, Wisconsin. Sister St. Louis served as a teacher and/or principal at St. Ann, Francis Creek, Sacred Heart and St. Boniface, Manitowoc, St. James, Cooperstown, St. John, Antigo, St. Philip, Green Bay, St. Francis, Hollandtown, St. Joseph, Rice Lake, Wisconsin; St. Willibroad, Chicago, Illinois, St. Agnes, Mingo Junction, Ohio; Catholic Central, Menominee, St. Francis Xavier, Petoskey, Michigan and Holy Family, Lindsay, Nebraska. After retiring from teaching, she served as a remedial tutor at St. Agnes, Mingo Juntion , Ohio; service team at Holy Family Convent, Dietary Aide at St. Paul Manor, Kaukauna and assistant to the Coordinator of St. Rita's Health Center and tasks assigned at St. Francis Convent, Manitowoc, Wisconsin. She is a member of the Franciscan Sisters of Christian Charity.
Survivors include the Franciscan Sisters of Christian Charity; nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.
Funeral Services will be held at 10:30 A.M. (TODAY) Monday, August 19, 2013 at Holy Family Convent, Manitowoc. Officiating at the Mass of Christian Burial will be Fr. Placid Stroik, OFM with burial at Holy Family Convent Cemetery, Manitowoc.
The family will greet relatives and friends at Holy Family Convent, Manitowoc, from 4:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. Sunday, August 18, 2013. A prayers service will be held at 7:00 P.M. at Holy Family Convent Chapel.
The Pfeffer Funeral Home, Manitowoc is assisting the family with funeral arrangements.
