E. Dale Driver, age 89 of Council Bluffs passed away November 18, 2013 at Methodist Jennie Edmundson. He was born in rural Honey Creek, Iowa on February 15, 1924 to the late Edwin and Anna (Christiansen) Driver.

He served his country during World War II. Dale farmed but always had a love for his father's Blacksmith Shop. He owned and operated Driver Blacksmith Shop, then continued his education, receiving a teaching degree and taught for the Council Bluffs Community School district for 31 years.

Dale was a member of First Christian Church where he and his wife, Lourean were married August 31, 1969. He was active in many ministries along with Lourean.

He was also a member of the Southwest Iowa Blacksmith and Welders Association, the Iowa State Blacksmith and Welders Association, the National Blacksmith and Welders Association and the American Welders Society.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his first wife, Kathleen (Sampson) Driver; son, Robert Driver; sisters, Vera George, Alice Parish and Dorothy Driver; brothers, Vern Driver and Leo Driver; stepson, Marvin Dickey; step grandson, Michael Dickey and just this year, his wife, Lourean Driver and daughter, Carol Kallas.

Dale is survived by his daughter and son-in-law, Darlene and Eddie Bates; son and daughter-in-law, Richard and Marcia Driver; step-sons and their wives, Marion and Sally Dickey and Gary and Jill Dickey; many grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Visitation is Friday from 6:00-8:00 p.m. at the Hoy-Kilnoski Funeral Home. Memorial service is Saturday 10:30 a.m. at the funeral home followed by a luncheon in the community room at Hoy-Kilnoski. Inurnment is that afternoon in the Grange Cemetery.

Memorials are suggested to Hospice with Heart, Risen Son Christian Village or First Christian Church.
