Jean Elizabeth Spangenberg, 90, a longtime Marinette, Wis., resident, was called to Heaven early Friday morning, Oct. 23, 2020, at the Luther Home in Marinette. She was born Oct. 17, 1930, in Marinette to Henry and Elsie (Marquardt) Roeder.

Jean's early life was spent on the family farm in the Town of Grover. She came into Marinette to attend school and was a graduate of Marinette High School, Class of 1948.

On Sept. 9, 1949, she married Ralph Spangenberg and together they shared 71 years of marriage. She was devoted to her family and raising their three daughters. Jean was an avid reader and enjoyed traveling the world with Ralph. She was a lifelong member of Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church of Marinette and proud of having been baptized, confirmed and married in the same church.

Jean is survived by her husband, Ralph;
three daughters: Barbara (Bill) Wolard of Menominee, MI; Cindy (Gary) Robison of Ontario, CA and Tami (Ken) Koutnik of Marinette, WI;
five grandchildren: Tim (Belgin) Wolard, Steve Wolard, Stacia (Clint) Stewart, Ryan (Jamie) Koutnik and Brittani (Greg) Haemker;
great-grandchildren: Nicole, Kiersten, Kaleigh, Cayla, Mia, Tiffany, Courtney, Finlee, Fletcher, Bentley and Kali;
and great-great-grandchildren: Waylon and Adley.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a sister and brother-in-law: Wilma and Clarence Wellhoefer.

A private family memorial service was held at Hansen-Onion-Martell Funeral Home, with the Rev. Jon Tesch officiating.
