Hilda, 93, of Mears, passed away Monday, November 18, 2013. She was borny to Enoch and Mary (Mohr) Hux.

She married James W. Coleson on June 22, 1940; he passed away June 7, 2000, just before their 60th anniversary.

After graduating from County Normal School, she began a teaching career which would last for over thirty years. She started teaching in 1937 at Elm Valley School in Ferry. She taught at one room schools, while continuing her own education. She graduated from Western Michigan College of Education in 1956 with her Bachelor's Degree and from Western Michigan College in 1960 with her Master's Degree in Special Education. She then started the Special Education program in Oceana County.

She was a member of West Golden Wesleyan Church. Hilda enjoyed ceramics and eventually opened her own ceramic shop, where she taught classes to those interested in learning how to make ceramic pieces.

Mrs. Coleson is survived by two daughters, Helen (Thomas) Fitzpatrick and Ruth (James) Musil, both of Hart; two sons, Harold Coleson of Franklin, Indiana and Donald (Sandra) Coleson of Pentwater; her son-in-law, Steve Ordway of Shelby, and one sister, Leona Lydens of Whitehall. She also has eleven grandchildren, several great-grand children, many step-grandchildren, several great-great grandchildren, and one great-great-great grandson.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, James Coleson; her youngest daughter, Alice Ordway; three brothers, Harold, Orlo, and Merwin Hux; and three sisters, Edna Hux, Mabel Knickerbocker, and Velma Howell.

The Funeral Service for Mrs. Coleson was Friday, November 22, 2013, at West Golden Wesleyan Church in Mears with Rev. Ron Rickard officiating.

The family requests that any memorials be directed to West Golden Wesleyan Church, Mears, MI.
