Elizabeth Cook, 96, of Dade City, Florida, died Tuesday, November 12, 2013, at Heritage Park Nursing Home, where she lived for the past three years.
She was born on Jan. 29, 1917, the daughter of Arthur and Lola Strout. She was educated in Auburn schools, graduating in 1935. On Feb. 27, 1942, she married Elwood Cook. She worked as a homemaker, raising their four children. She also helped her husband keep the books for the family business, Cook's Shell, and was working for Peck's Department Store when she retired.
After her husband's death in 1988, Elizabeth spent winters in Florida and later moved there. She enjoyed endless hours making stuffed animals, reading, doing counted cross-stitch, crossword puzzles and word-search games.
She was predeceased by her parents; her husband; her brother, Weston Strout; her nephew, Wendall Strout; and her grandson, Shawn Cook.
