Donald "Don" W. Adam

WYOCENA/COLUMBUS - Donald W. Adam, 77, was called to his eternal home in heaven on Friday, Dec. 16, 2011, at Columbia Health Care Center in Wyocena after a long illness.

Don was born March 14, 1934, in Fountain Prairie Township, Columbia County, to Theodore and Elfrieda (Pergandee) Adam. He graduated in 1952 from Fall River High School. He was married to Beverly Kind on June 17, 1958, at Zion Ev. Lutheran Church in Columbus. Don worked in the banking business for more than 32 years. During that time, he served on numerous committees in the community. Don was a member of Zion Ev. Lutheran Church where he also held different offices, served on numerous committees and sang in the choir. He was treasurer for the Salvation Army in Columbus for 40 years.

He loved his Lord, his wife of 53 years, his sons, grandsons, his other family members, friends and people in general. He was a gentle man who enjoyed golf, fishing, traveling and cards. He was a devoted husband, father and grandfather.

He will be sadly missed by his wife, Bev, of Columbus and their two sons, David (Kathy) Adam of Franklin, and Michael (Kelly) Adam of Burlington, his grandsons, Derek, Mitchell, Austin and Tyler. He is further survived by one brother, Eugene (Betsy) Adam of Fall River; two sisters, Adeline Voss of Columbus and Marian Marshall of Janesville, and one sister-in-law, Margaret Adam of Madison as well as nephews, nieces other family and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother, Lester and two brothers-in-law, Roger Voss and Eugene Marshall.

A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, Dec. 20, at Zion Ev. Lutheran Church in Columbus with the Rev. Robert Wilke officiating. A visitation will be held on Monday, Dec. 19 from 5 until 8 p.m. at Koepsell-Zeidler Funeral Home in Columbus, and also on Tuesday, Dec. 20 from 10 until 11 a.m. at the church. Interment will take place at Hillside Cemetery in Columbus.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to Zion Ev. Lutheran Church or the Columbus Community Hospital.

The family thanks the caregivers from the Columbia Health Care Center for their wonderful care and compassion.
