Margaret M. Adam
COLUMBUS-Margaret M. Adam, 79, passed away after a short battle with cancer on Sunday, April 22, 2012, at Oakwood Village East.
Margaret was born on March 4, 1933, in Columbus to Otto and Clara (Helwig) Madaus. She graduated from Columbus High School in 1951 and started working for Wisconsin Bell where she retired after 37 years of service. She married Pvt. Lester Adam on Dec. 22, 1951, while he was home on medical leave. Margaret was a resident of Columbus until she moved to Oakwood Village East where she kept very active until her illness. She loved to spend her summers at the family cottage in Eagle River. She also took many trips with friends and family.
Margaret is survived by her son Mark (Bonnie) of Columbus; one daughter Beth (Charles) Dunning of Fall River; five grandchildren T.J. (Brenda) Adam, Timm Adam, Rebecca (Dan) Oehlert, Eric (Tricia) Dunning, Alison Dunning; five great grandchildren, Sabrina Reynen, Ayden and Rhyann Adam, Cohen and Brogan Dunning; one brother Melvin (Betty) Madaus of Marshall; three sisters Joan Duffy of Madison, Elaine (Jerry) Derr of Columbus, Cheri (Todd) Tessmann of Watertown; three sisters-in-law Bev Adam, Adeline Voss, Marion Marshall; a brother-in-law Eugene (Betsy) Adam; many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Les in 1991; parents; three brothers-in-law, Don Adam, Roger Voss, Eugene Marshall. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, April 26, at Faith Lutheran Churc h, Columbus. The Rev. Robert Moberg and Sandra Schieble will officiate. Interment will be in Hillside Cemetery, Columbus. Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. on Wednesday at the funeral home, and from 10 to 11 a.m. at the church on Thursday.
Memorials may be directed to the American Cancer Society or Faith Lutheran Church. Margaret's family would like to thank all of the nurses and aides at Oakwood Village & Agrace Hospice for all their comforting care during her illness.
