Leonard P. Baker, 80, of Hoopeston, passed away at 12:25 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 17, 2013, at Mount Carmel Health in Columbus, Ohio. He was born Oct. 25, 1933 in Rossville, the son of Sterling and Sophia Burton Baker.

He married Shirley Miller on Dec. 24, 1951 in Rossville. She preceded him in death Oct. 20, 1996.

He later married Georgette Gail Maynard on Oct. 18, 1997 in London, Ohio. She survives.

He was also preceded in death by his parents; two sons, Scott and Gary Baker; one daughter, Vonna Robinson; three grandchildren; three brothers and four sisters.

He also is survived by five daughters, Rhonda Baker, Sharon (Donnie) Robinson, Julie Holt, Delores (Greg) Cushman and Shelley (Les) Garrett; six sons, Bill Baker, Jerry (Cindy) Baker, Brian (Beth) Baker, Danny Baker, Mark (Jeanne) Baker and Ralph Baker; two step-sons, Chris (Anna) Ward and Chad Ward; 33 grandchildren; 35 great-grandchildren; one brother, Leroy Baker and several nieces and nephews.

He served in the United States Army. He worked as a truck driver for more than 59 years as an owner/operator until he retired in 2006.
