Herman Hoil Ellison, infant son of Mr. and Mrs. Frank Ellison, died at their home S.E. of Cottage Grove, 14 September 1905. The little one was playing in the yard and had gone outside where there was a small bonfire and thinking to put it out, he stomped it as he no doubt had seen others do and this started fresh flames which caught in his dress, burning him badly under the arm and it is thought he inhaled the flames, as in half an hour the dear little one was dead, before the doctor arrived.
