Lieut Marion Bledsoe Beal was attacked by enemy fighter planes and was shot down northeast of Osnabuock, Germany. He wa s able to parachute out of the plane but was so seriously wounded he died shortly afterwards.
Liuet Beal entered the Air Corps in Winson-Salem N.C. March 31, 1942 & had just made Lieut. shortly before his death on Mar. 6, 1944.
Son of John Bledsoe Beal & Nellie Vivian Dick he was born in Scottsville, Va.
He was brought home & laid to rest on June 12, 1949 in Forest Lawn Cemetery, Greensboro, N.C. He was survived by his mother, a brother, Joseph P. Beal & two sister, Mrs. Jack Nichols of Greensboro & Mrs. John Jacobson of Washington.
