Bobby was born in Minneapolis, on May 21, 1925. He was the last of ten children born to John and Louise Mathews. He attended South High School and volunteered for the U. S. Army in June of 1943. He returned home from serving in the Pacific on Christmas Eve of 1945. Bobby moved to California after the war and lived in Los Angeles. He was employed by the city of Los Angeles. He retired and continued to live in Los Angeles until his death in 2004. He is buried at Fort Snelling National Cemetery.
