Thomas Boarman, Sr. was the son of Roswell and Catherine (McAtee) Boarman in Charles County, Maryland.

He married Anna "Nancy" Mattingly, 1808-1888 on Nov. 2, 1829 in Washington, (now Marion) County, Kentucky. She was his step-sister--his widowed father having married her twice widowed mother. Nancy's parents were James Mattingly and Margaret "Peggy" (Cash) Mattingly Browning Boarman.

He and Nannie were the parents of: William Boarman, 1830-1910; Ann (Boarman) Moore, 1832 xxxx; Eliza Jane (Boarman) Drury, 1837-1922; Harriet (Boarman) Geabhart, 1833-1878, buried in Dog Island Cemetery, Ilene, Greene County, Indiana, [findagrave#14282418}, wife of of John Gabehart; John Boarman/Bowman, 1839-1914; Thomas Boarman, Jr. 1844-1934; Caroline (Boarman) Gabhart, wife of Thomas Gabehart; and Mary Jane (Boarman) Buckman, 1852-19xx.

Thomas Boarman, Jr. left a well written on March 28, 1870 and was probated on Apr. 4, 1870 and recorded in Marion County, Kentucky Will Book #1 in the Marion County Clerk's Office in Lebanon, Kentucky. His will read as follows:

In the name of God amen, I Thomas Boarman of Marion County, Kentucky, being of feeble health and having arrived to the advanced age of sixty six but of sound mind and disposing memory do ordain and establish this to be my last will and testament.

It is my desire and will that all my just debts and funerl and burial expenses shall be paid and my body decently buried in a christian like manner in the St. Charles Graveyard.

Item 2nd, I will and bequeath unto my dear & beloved wife Nancy Ann Boarman during her natural life all my estate both personal and real and mixed to use, enjoy and dispose of for her own benefit as she may choose whether she should marry or not she is not to be controlled or required to give any security or be in any way restrained by any of my children or anybody else in the enjoyment of the same.

Item 3. It is my will and desire that after the death of my wife all the personal property that she has not disposed of for her benefit and comfort together with my land shal be sold and a credit of twelve months and the money arising therefrom to be equally divided between all my children and their descendants, should any of them be deceased except my daughter, Harriett that married John Gabeheart and and daughter Caroline that married Thomas Gabeheart I will to them one dollar ech and no more, and it is all I entnd (sic) they should have of my estate or either of teir heirs.

Item 4rth. I hereby authorize and request the County Court of Marion County, to appoint some discret(e) and responsible person to act as my executor of this my last will with full power to carry this will into full force and effect.

Given under my hand this 28th day of March 1870. Thomas Boarman made his mark before these witnesses: W. P. Beauchamp, Eli F. Johns, and L. W. Culver.)

Codicil, My son Thomas, I look upon as not being capable of managing his portion of my estate I therefore make this alteration in my will as I respect his portion & will and bequeath to my wife for his benefit with full power and authority to dispose of the same or manage for his benefit. s she may choose or appoint any other person to manage said portion s she may deem fit and proper so as to prevent him from spending it as witness my hand and seal this 29th day of March 1870. Thomas Boarman made his mark before the same witnesses.
