Mabel Morrow Cox, 98, passed away on Saturday, the 29th day of December, 2012, at the Masonic Home of Shelbyville. Born in Nelson County, Kentucky, she was the daughter of the late Henry Chester and Flossie Merritt Bowman Morrow, and the widow of Earl Clinton Cox. A member of Immanuel Baptist Church of Shelbyville, Mrs. Cox was also a former member of the Little Mount Baptist Church for over fifty years, where she was a former Sunday School teacher and a member of the W.M.U. Mrs. Cox was a member of the Taylorsville Chapter Number 366 of the Order of the Eastern Star for more than fifty years, and was a retired employee of the old Kentucky Department of Revenue.

Her survivors include her son, Wayne Cox and his wife, Charline Neal, of Elk Creek; her daughter, Sue Roberts and her husband, Hillis, of Shelbyville; and her four grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.


Funeral services will be conducted at 1:00 P.M., Saturday, the 5th day of January, 2013, at the Hall-Taylor Funeral Home of Shelbyville, with Reverend David Clay officiating. Interment will follow in Valley Cemetery of Taylorsville. Visitation will be from 3:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M., Friday, at Hall-Taylor in Shelbyville, with an Eastern Star service at 7:00 P.M. Expressions of sympathy may take the form of contributions to the Immanuel Baptist Church of Shelbyville
