Funeral services for Mr. Howard Allen will be held Sunday, December 1, 2002 at 3 PM at George Funeral Homes, Southside Chapel, 3175 Whiskey Rd., Aiken, SC, with Reverend Rick Rogers, officiating.

Interment will be private [Aiken Memorial Gardens].

The family will receive friends Saturday, November 30, 2002 from 6:00-8:00 PM at the funeral home.

Mr. Allen, 73, of Aiken, SC, husband of Mary Elizabeth Springs Allen, died, Thursday, morning, November 28, 2002 at University Hospital, Augusta, GA.

Born in Dillon, SC, a son of the late Roshell Allen and the late Ida Hayes Allen, he had lived in Georgetown, SC, prior to relocating to New Ellenton, SC, where he had lived for the past thirty-three years and attended Foreman Memorial Baptist Church.

A veteran of World War II and Korea, he proudly served his country in the United States Army, and was a recipient of the World War II Victory Medal, Purple Heart, and Army of Occupation of Japan Medal.

He retired from Owens-Corning Fiberglass after twenty-six years of service. An avid outdoorsman he loved fishing, and enjoyed Hunting and NASCAR.

A great-grandchild, Chasta Coker, preceded him in death.

In addition to his wife Mary, he is survived by his four daughters, Linda Allen Eaddy, Kingstree, SC, Sharron Allen Moody, Beech Island, SC, Patty Allen Hutto, Aiken, SC, and Tina Allen Ulery, Aiken, SC; a sister, Beck Allen, MO; seven grandchildren, Vena Coker, Coward, SC, William Howard Coker, Myrtle Beach, SC, Tori Hutto, Aiken, SC, Melanie Hutto, Aiken, SC, Amber Key, Aiken, SC, Diana Key, New Ellenton, SC, and Katie Moody, Beech Island, SC; and a great-grandchild, Shane Hutchinson, Coward, SC.

George Funeral Homes of Aiken was in charge of the arrangements.
