Victoria "Vicki" J. Carrico, 52, passed away peacefully at Kansas City Hospice House, Wednesday, Jan. 25, 2012, following an arduous battle with cancer. She was born Oct. 23, 1959, in Basehor, Kan., the daughter of Robert and Dorothy (Hughes) VanTuyl.

Vicki lived most of her life in the Basehor area and was highly involved in the community though charity work. She dedicated her life to serving others as an officer of the Fraternal Order of Eagles Aerie Wyandotte #87 where she was instrumental in raising donations for the Diabetes Association and Little People of America, "Just to name a few". Throughout her life she was also very involved with 4-H, Ronald McDonald House, mentoring underprivileged children and many more organizations. For the last 26 years Vicki was employed as a legal assistant of Lathrop and Gage. She was proud to be a member of their team.

Vicki is survived by her caring husband, Steve Carrico; her loving daughters, Sherri Breen and Jessica (Neil) Highfill; her grandchildren, Victoria "Tori", Maykayla, Norman, Ben and Steven; her sisters, Darlene (Jim) Bailey and Linda (Rick) Mabry; her mother-in-law, Shirley Munn; and a very large supportive extended family and group of friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents and her sister-in-law, Cheryl Braun.
