GRACE - Fern Elaine Larsen Gibson, 81, of Grace passed away Tuesday, April 21, 2009. Elaine was born September 18, 1927, in Grace, Idaho, the daughter of Hyrum Cyrus and Laverda Thomas Larsen. She lived in the Grace area all her life.

Elaine married Homer Lowe Gibson on December 23, 1947, in Pocatello, Idaho. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Logan LDS Temple on January 28, 1959. Homer passed away March 23, 2001.

She was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served in various callings throughout her life. She served a mission with her husband in the Houston, Texas mission and they had also been temple workers in the Logan Temple.

Elaine was on the Grace Library Board for 29 years and was the secretary at the Grace Elementary School for 17 years. She was involved with 4-H Council and as a 4-H Leader. She enjoyed gardening, reading, crocheting, and the outdoors. She loved spending time with her family and camping.

Elaine is survived by a son and three daughters, Kip and Alison Gibson of Alpine, Utah, Avon and Steven Daley of Soda Springs, Idaho, Gail and David Barthlome of Grace, Idaho, and DeAnn and Russell Wight of Pocatello, Idaho. Also surviving are 16 grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren and seven great-great-grandchildren; and two sisters, Alice Glenn and Vicki Rodighiero. She was preceded in death by her husband, Homer, and two brothers, Bob Larsen and Dick Larsen.

Services will be held on Saturday, April 25, 2009, at noon at the Grace LDS Stake Center. The family will meet with friends on Saturday morning from 10 to 11:30 a.m. at the stake center prior to services. Burial will be in the Grace Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations be made to the Grace Library.
Services are under the direction of the Sims Funeral Home.
