Mrs. Alvie Cummings

NEW WILMINGTON - Mrs. Maude Axe Cummings, 64, of RD 1, died at 8:30 a.m. today in the Jameson Memorial Hospital after a two-week illness.

Mrs. Cummings was born in Mercer County on March 12, 1906 to George and Carrie McCurdy Moon.

She was a member of New Wilmington United Methodist Church.

On March 15, 1923, she married her first husband, Kenneth Axe, who died Dec. 14, 1958.

Surviving are her second husband Alvie Cummings, whom she married July 16, 1960; a son Robert E. Axe of Erie; a stepdaughter, Mrs. June Wharry of Daytona, Fla.; three brothers, Robert Moon of Volant RD 3, Paul Moon of Volant RD 3, William Moon of New Castle; a sister, Mrs. Ethel Purdue of Mercer; two grandsons and five step-grandchildren.

Friends may call at the E. Gailey Sharp Funeral Home here from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. tomorrow and 7 to 9 p.m. Monday. A service will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday, at the funeral home, conducted by Dr. Robert D. Rose of Mercer United Presbyterian Church. Burial will be in Neshannock Cemetery here.
