Jasper N. Rutledge died Thursday morning at his home here. He has been suffering with a facial cancer for the past two or three years and has been very low the past month.

The deceased was born on a farm a mile east of Leroy on February 25, 1836. He was second of a family of twelve children born to Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Rutledge, three of whom are still living, F. M. and Albert Rutledge and Nancy McFarland.

He was married to Valinda D. Harris, February 7 1858 since deceased.

To this union there were born six children, Samuel O., Mora V., Thomas J., and Mrs. John Holt. Two children, Bertha and Albert, died In infancy.

He and his wife moved to a farm in West Township, March 1, 1859, where they resided until 1898, when they moved to Le Roy. His wife died in 1894.

He had been a member of the Christian church for about forty-five years.
