Obituary published in "Bridgeton Pioneer" newspaper on 30 October 1884:
"Death From A Tumor --
The wife of Captain Ellis Reeves, the Dorchester postmaster, visited Philadelphia last week to have a tumor removed. The operation was performed successfully, but it was too much for the lady to bear, and she died from the results. The tumor was as large as a man's head, and was removed with great difficulty by the physicians. The deceased lady was highly esteemed in the community where she resided."
