Eleanore Agnes Gamberg, 91, of Lebanon died Monday at the Dallas Retirement Village.

Eleanore was born near Vermillion, S.D. Her family later moved to Beresford, S.D. She graduated from Beresford High School in 1932.

Eleanore married Harold E. Gamberg on Oct. 4, 1933, in Vermillion. In January 1942, they moved to Coquille and in July 1942, they moved to Lebanon. After Harold’s death, Eleanore moved to the Albany Mennonite Village and later to the Dallas Retirement Village. She regularly attended church and Bible study at both places.

She worked in accounting at Linn County Telephone Company in Lebanon for 10 years. She then worked as office manager for the Lebanon office of Mayflower Farms until the branch closed.

She was a member and a deacon of the Lebanon First Presbyterian Church and a member of the Presbyterian Guild. She was a member of the Thursday Social Club since 1942. She was a past member of the Pearl Rebekah Lodge 49, the Lebanon Hospital Auxiliary and the Oregon State Mother’s Club.

Eleanore was preceded in death by husband Harold in September 2000, son James Lee who died in infancy; sisters Viola Vance and Lucille Duncan, and brother LeRoy Hanson.

She is survived by daughter and son-in-law, granddaughter and husband, and two great-granddaughters.

According to her wishes, a private service will be held at the Lebanon IOOF Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the Lebanon First Presbyterian Church or Mennonite Village Foundation in care of Huston-Jost Funeral Home, 86 W. Grant St., Lebanon, OR 97355.
