CONVERSE -- Dorothy L. "Dode" Alter, 90, died at 6:20 a.m. Monday, August 15, 2011 in Wesleyan Health Care Center, Marion, Indiana. She was born in Marion, Indiana to the late Frank and Ellen (Glacken) Alter. Dorothy lived most of her life in Marion and had lived in Converse since 1991.
She was a clerk and retired from Longs Cleaners, Marion, Indiana and previously worked at Horner's Grocery, Marion, and Anaconda Wire & Cable, Marion.
Survivors include her sister-in-law, Lenora Alter, Converse; brother-in-law, Donald Cartwright, Marion; nieces and nephews, Jeffrey (Kay), William (Dee) and Dorinda Alter, Andrea (Sid) Alter-Dunn, Donald Cartwright, Donna Jo (Steve) Turner, Diana Teagarden, Michael and Maria Scaletta, Delores (Jim) Simpson, Rebecca (Richard) Ladwig, and Judy Castillo, Sally, James, Frank (Mary), Steve (Judy), William (Vicki), Richard (Leigh) Aguilar, and Anita (Larry) McCrea; great nieces and great nephews.
She was preceded in death by four sisters, Betty Scaletta, Rosemary Castillo, Mary Ellen Aguilar, Joan Cartwright; brother, Frank P. Alter; nephews, John Castillo, Jr., C. Thomas Aguilar, David Scaletta, Frank Orion Alter.
Funeral Service will be at 1 p.m. Thursday August 18, 2011 in Needham-Storey-Wampner Funeral Service, North Chapel, 1341 N. Baldwin Ave., Marion, Indiana with the Rev. Jeff Timmons officiating. Burial will be in Estates of Serenity, Marion, Indiana.
