David H Burmester, age 79 of Loganville passed away on Saturday, November 23, 2013 at the Sauk County Health Care Center. He was born on August 8, 1934 in Loganville, Wisconsin, to Albert and Emma (Severson) Burmester.

On September 9, 1934 he was baptized and on March 21, 1948 he was confirmed at St. Peter's Lutheran Church where he remained faithful and active until the day of his passing.

David graduated from Reedsburg high school on May 28, 1952. He attended Madison Business College, receiving his degree in Business Administration on November 12, 1954.

David served in the U.S. Army from 1957 to 1959. He was assigned to B Co. 1st Medium Tank Battalion, 37th Armor, and 4th Armored Div. He did his training at Ft. David took over his father's grocery business in 1963 which he continued to operate until 2012. The hand dipped ice cream David served at the store will remain a fond memory for his family, friends and the community.

David was active with the Loganville Volunteer Fire Department for many years. The department was a large part of his life.

David loved history and geneology. He co-authored a history of Loganville, Wisconsin, titled "Loganville, Our Heritage" published in 1980. In a different place and time, he may have become an historian with the appropriate degrees. He had a knack for telling a good story in an entertaining and clear way.

David was never married, but he was an active and beloved uncle to all of his nieces and nephews. He provided a summer vacation spot to all and was an ever presence in his sister Jeanne's family after the passing of Jeanne's husband.
