Survived by her devoted husband of 64 years, Leo O'Hearn, her five sons, one daughter and three granddaughters.
Margaret raised six children and then returned to her nursing profession after her children were in school. She cooled many fevers, changed many diapers, bathed and tended to the wounds of her children and of strangers, tied many shoes, prepared many meals, smiled easily, and bore pain with grace and dignity. She was devoted to her husband and children, had an intuitive sense of style, loved to gab on the phone and laugh with her many friends, but also empathized with others' pain. She sang on the radio as a child, and often would sing softly as she worked around her kitchen. She loved her dogs and for many years went on daily walks with her husband and her pooch. Even as her health declined and her home became her world, she would notice and comment on the beautiful sky outside or a flower in a vase on the dining table. She was a woman ahead of her time, an equal partner to her husband, and wise and patient with her children.
We are grateful for a loving wife and mother. You will live in our hearts forever.
Visitation for Margaret will be from 4 to 8 p.m. with an evening Rosary starting at 6:30 p.m. on Friday, November 22, 2013 at Santa Clara Mortuary, 2370 North H Street, Oxnard. Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, November 23 at 10:30 a.m. followed by burial at Santa Clara Cemetery.
