Dorothy Lois Beach Vaden, 89, formerly of Temperanceville, died on Saturday, Oct. 15, 2005 in Lynchburg, Va. She was born in Norfolk, Va., on May 30, 1916, daughter of the late Frank Whitefield Beach and Sarah Catherine Feuerstein Beach. She was preceded in death by her husband, Arthur Grayson Vaden and her brother, Robert R. Beach. She was a graduate of Harrisonburg State Teachers College (now James Madison University). She taught in the Accomack County School System for many years and was a longtime active member of the Temperanceville United Methodist Church. She volunteered with the Hospice of the Eastern Shore. She is survived by a daughter, Catherine V. Cann and her husband, Edward, of Goode, Va.; a son, Robert G. Vaden and his wife, Sandra, of Sewell, N.J.; a brother, Frank W. Beach Jr. of Arlington, Va.; four grandchildren, Amanda Vaden, Kelly Vaden, Andra Clay, and Laura Johnson; and two great-grandchildren, Emily Clay and Parker Clay. Graveside services will be conducted at 2 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 22 at Taylors Memorial Cemetery, Temperanceville, with the Rev. John Sweeney officiating. There will be a reception for family and friends at Wright's Seafood Restaurant following the services. Those wishing to make memorials are asked to consider Hospice of the Eastern Shore.
