Allen was the son of June and Tom Chin. He was the co-owner of Chung's Restaurant in Waterford, Michigan, with his cousin, Philip Chung. He was the third generation in his family to work in the restaurant, which was started by his grandfather, Joseph Chin, and his sister, who married into the Chung family. His father began working there before he joined them all. The first Chung's Restaurant was located near Tiger Stadium before it opened in Chinatown in the 1960s. He died as the result of an auto accident. Survivors include his wife of 40 years, Shui Kuen Chin; sons Craig, Christopher, Curtis, Calvin and Clifford; a daughter, Cynthia; brothers Wing Chin of Lafayette, Calif.; Eugene Chin of Vienna, Va.; John Chin of Ann Arbor; and a sister, Nancy Moy of Troy.
