Jack was born in Bonshaw, Queens County, Prince Edward Island, Canada, the fifth child and second son of Murdock and Euphemia MacLeod. Employed as a conductor on the streetcar line in Boston, Massachusetts, he married Laura Catherine MacLeod on 26 January 1910. She was the daughter of Murdock MacLeod (1836-1917) and Margaret Darrach (1854-1935). They had no children. Jack died aged 23 of spinal meningitis and is buried with his parents in Hartsville Presbyterian Cemetery, PEI.
