On the 1910 US Federal Census for Penn Yan, Yates Co., NY, Nathan Norcott, age 93, was shown as Widowed.

Nate lived his entire life in Penn Yan. Early in life, he conducted a meat market. But since he didn't like indoor work he soon took up huckstering. For over 60 years he was a produce vendor in the community. For a long time Nate drove a one-horse wagon, in making the rounds of the village, and his cheery voice, as he shouted "Cabbage!" was a familiar sound. Later, he gave up the wagon and used a push-cart, and was finally driven by rheumatism to the sidewalk, where seated, he vended produce to passersby. Finally his infirmities were such that he was obliged to spend his winters in the Yates County Home, and later became a permanent resident there, until he passed away. Nate was a veritable landmark on the streets of Penn Yan.

On December 12, 1915 Nathan ("Nate") Norcott died, at age 93, of a coronary thrombosis at the Yates County Home in Jerusalem, Yates Co., NY. He was buried on December 14th at Lakeview Cemetery in Penn Yan.
