County Teacher Dies After Brief Illness
Funeral services for Mrs. Una Searcy long a teacher in Payne county, were held Saturday afternoon at the First Baptist church. Burial followed in Fairlawn cemetery. Mrs. Searcy died at her home in Ripley Thursday afternoon, following a brief illness. She was employed as a teacher in the junior high school at Ripley at the time of her death.
She taught for a number of years in Stillwater, and at Cushing 10 years before accepting the Ripley position. She was graduated from Oklahoma A. and M. college in 1917, and was working on her master's degree at the time of her death.
She had complained for some time with severe headaches, but had not been seriously ill, other teachers thought. Tuesday morning she met her classes, but felt too ill to teach during the afternoon.
She is survived by her husband, a daughter 5 years old, and her parents, who live near Yale. Before her marriage she was Miss Una Whillock.
Services were conducted by the Rev. O.L. Gibson and the Rev. John Hollum of Oklahoma City.
