LAST RITES HELD SATURDAY FOR MRS. BELLE ABBETT
Funeral services for Mrs. Belle Abbett were held Saturday afternoon, Nov. 29, in the Baptist Church at Newark, with Rev. Howard S. Higdon of Hannibal - LaGrange College conducting the services. Clyde D. Myers sang, accompanied by Mrs. G. O. Spees.
Mrs. Abbett died Wednesday, Nov. 26, at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Arthur Nelson, at the age of 83 years, 6 months and 26 days.
Four years ago last August Mrs. Abbett sustained a broken hip and never recovered from the injury.
She was married to Walter Sinnock who died leaving her with a small daughter, Birdie, now Mrs. Arch Millsap of Gibbs. She later married Robert Abbett. To this union a daughter and twin sons [sic] who preceded her in death, were born.
Surviving are the daughters, Mrs. Millsap and Mrs. Nelson; a grandson, Robert C. Nelson, stationed with the Army in New Jersey; a brother, Charles Myers of Newark; a sister, Mrs. Mary Boyer of San Diego, Calif., and other relatives. She lived her entire life in the Newark community.
She united with the Baptist church early in life and was a faithful worker.
Pallbearers were O. L. Janney, J. L. Myers, C. Q. Myers, Lewis Myers, Delbert Myers and Gaylord Wisherd.
Burial was in Newark cemetery.
