He was an exceptionally gifted violinist and studied under some of the best teachers in Europe,namely Professors Secvik (Prague),Wirth(Berlin),and Auer(Russia).The musical inscription on his headstone is the only one that exists amongst all the memorials tended by the Commonwealth War Graves Commission [CWGC] worldwide. The origin of these few notes remained something of a mystery for a long time until a member of CWGC staff came up with a possible answer; she identified the notes as coming from the old American song 'After the Ball'.He was the first initiate of the Gordon Langton Lodge, No.3069. He was 32 and the son of J. Gordon Langton and Emily Langton of 9E Hyde Park Mansions, London. He left a widow, Una M. Langton, of "Glendura" 92 Hornsey Lane, London.
