Services for Mrs. Katie Ayres, 47, wife of Walter S. Ayres who died suddenly Sunday morning at the residence, will be held at 2 o'clock this afternoon at the home 359 West South street. Dr. Harry L. Crain of the Presbyterian Church will officiate and interment will be Bunnell cemetery.
She was found dead in her bed by he husband about 4:30 o' clock Sunday morning when he returned from his railroad run. A physician was called and later county coroner Frank Strange was summoned. Mrs. Ayres had been suffering with a chronic heart ailment for a number of years but had been better for some time, it is believed, just prior to her death.
The deceased was born in Mulberry October 29, 1885, the daughter of Henry C. and Kate (Shockey) Harshman. On August 19, 1903 she was united in marriage to Walter E. Ayres. Practically all of her married life had been spent in the city where she was a member of the Presbyterian church, the Woodmen Circle and the Ladies of the Moose.
Mrs. Ayres was widely known and had a large circle of friends who were shocked by her sudden death and sincerely grieved over her untimely passing.
The surviving relatives are the husband, two sons Dorsey and Lionel both at home, one grandson, Jackie Lee; five brothers and one sister. Alonzo E. Harshman, Mrs. Fairfax Grice, Frank Harshman, Richard Harshman, Harry Harshman, all of Clinton county; Albert Harshman of Chinook, Montana. One sister, Mrs. Lettie Mercer preceded her in death. A number of nieces and nephews survive.
The Ladies of the Woodmen Circle and the Mooseheart Legion will give their funeral ritualistic services at the grave side.
