Neoma (Schwanke) Oestreich, a four year resident at Artisan Senior Living peacefully passed away Tuesday morning.

Neoma Viola Hertha Schwanke, age 88, arrived into the world on January 19, 1925 in Manitowoc County, Wisconsin. She was the last child of 14 children born to Albert and Martha (Krueger) Schwanke. Her son, Jay Sprang, was of her first marriage and her daughter, Patricia Oestreich, is from her second marriage. When she was young she had done waitress work, later employed at Lube Devices and Holiday House.

Neoma had been an avid pen pal to many and much enjoyed corresponding with people throughout the country and around the world. She loved to grow plants in her home. Her most cherished plants were her violets, as well as tending to her flowerbeds in earlier years. In addition, she was fond of reading, canning and baking. Neoma always looked forward to the holidays when visits with family and friends were rather frequent.

Neoma will be best remembered for her coconut candy and the love she had for her family. She will truly be missed.

In addition, she is survived by grandchildren: Brett Sprang of Chicago, Brian Sprang of Chicago, Jessica (Sprang) Garretson of Portland, Tennessee and Eric Sprang of Portland, Tennessee.
