Edmund Dickens, 71, of 821 Mohave Drive, died at 8:53 a.m. yesterday (Jan. 18, 1983) at St. James Hospital.

He was born Oct. 11, 1911, at Madison, Wis., a son of Albert and Lena Tischer Dickens.

He married Mildred Wilson Aug. 10, 1935, at Belvidere. She survives.

Also surviving are a daughter, Helen Nelson, Pontiac; a son, Robert, Shelby, N.C.; two sisters, Ida Dixon and Frances Bennett, both of Portland, Ore. ; and six grandchildren.

A granddaughter preceded him in death.

Mr. Dickens was a retired Rock Island Railroad engineer.

He lived in Joliet for 40 years before moving to Pontiac three years ago.

He was a 33rd degree Mason and was a member of Mount Joliet Masonic Lodge, Star Craft Joliet Chapter, Scottish Rite, Valley of Chicago, Medina Temple of Chicago, Islam Temple of San Francisco, Al Chymia Temple of Memphis, Medina Police Unit and the Pontiac Elks Lodge. He was past president of Joliet Shrine Club and was a director of Red Fez Shrine Club, Pontiac.

He was a member of Grace United Methodist Church, Joliet.
