Mildred Eunice Arrington Cogdill, 81, of Sylva, died Thursday, December 5, 2013 at Skyland Care Center. She was a lifelong resident of Jackson County. Mildred was the daughter of the late William and Ada Pace Arrington, She was preceded in death by her husband William Alvin Cogdill who died in 2010. She was also preceded in death by three sisters Willie Lowe, Arba Plemmons, and Gladys Murphy, and four brothers Woodrow Arrington, Claude Arrington, Sam Arrington, and Bud Arrington. She was a member of Balsam Baptist Church.

Mildred is survived by two daughters Yvonne Marie Cogdill of Balsam, Patricia Diane Rivers of Asheville, and one son Mac Edward Cogdill of Balsam. She is also survived by two grand children and one great grandchild.

Funeral services will be held 2:00 pm, Monday, December 9, 2013 at Balsam Baptist Church with Reverend Johnny Swanger officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Pallbearers will be Bobby Cogdill, Benny Cogdill, Larry Cogdill, Wes Averett, Randall Moss, and Johnny Nicholson. The family will receive friends from 6:00 pm until 8:00 pm Sunday, December 8, 2013 at Melton Funeral Home.
