John A. Siegmund, age 84 years, 1 month, 9 days, of Kewaunee, went to his heavenly home on Wednesday, December 4, 2013 at Bellin Memorial Hospital in Green Bay with his loving and supportive wife at his side. John Arthur Edward Siegmund was born October 25, 1929 in the town of West Kewaunee, son of the late Walter and Alma (Hannmann) Siegmund. in Kewaunee.
John married Ruth Mueller on August 13, 1964 at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Montpelier.John was a lifelong dairy farmer and had a great passion for serving on many dairy and farm related cooperative organizations. These included local, state, regional and national co-ops. He was awarded the Cooperative Builder Award in 1985 and had the pleasure of visiting a co-op in Poland. John and Ruth were also privileged to travel to Germany, Portugal and Amsterdam. While in Portugal they visited Ana Fernandes and family. Ana was an AFS exchange student who stayed with John and Ruth for a school year.John was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church where he served in various board positions over the years. He was a member of the Kewaunee Rotary Club, having served as President and was awarded the Rotary Person of the Year.
John is survived by his wife Ruth of 49 years; sisters, Leona Breitlow, Marian Gaedtke, Sandra (Arthur) Schweiner; brothers, Kenneth (Lois) Siegmund, Lyle (Lois) Siegmund; sisters-in-law, Anna (Gerald) Nelson, Eileen (Chris) Den Heijer, Paul Mueller, David (Nancy) Mueller. He also leaved to mourn many nieces and nephews, other relatives and friends.He was preceded in death by his parents; parents-in-law, Gustav & Emma Mueller; brothers, Walter (Freida) Siegmund and Lynn Siegmund; brothers-in-law & sister-in-law, Glenway Breitlow, Melvin Gaedtke, Gary (Verna) Bonesio.
Burial will be in Riverview Cemetery, Kewaunee.
