She is survived by her children, Kathy and Chris Kane, Rob and Linda Lalley, Pat and Deb Lalley, Mel Reed, Tim and Bonnie Lalley, Jane and Chris Cox; grandchildren, Kevin and Kelley Kane, Ryan and Kerry Kane, Matt and Emily Kane, Molly Kane, Jessica and Chris Barnes, Molly and Tom McNamara, Sean and Coreen Lalley, James, Dan and Erin Lalley, Tim and Jessica Reed, Pat, Courtney and Joe Reed, Elizabeth Lalley, Matt and Jill Haarman and Sara Haarman; and 15 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her loving husband, Robert and daughter Elizabeth.
She was a teacher, matriarch of the Lalley clan, and a dear friend to many. Bernice was an active community volunteer involved with St. Mary's Hospital Guild, Immaculate Heart of Mary Parish, St. John's Guild, and Cascade Country Club. Bernice will be remembered for her hopeful and positive attitude towards life.
Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at Immaculate Heart of Mary Church, Plymouth and Burton SE on Friday, August 26 by Rev. Troy Nevins. Visitation on Thursday, August 25, at O'Brien-Eggebeen-Gerst Chapel, 3980 Cascade Rd. SE. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Killgoar Foundation at Immaculate Heart of Mary School, 1935 Plymouth SE, Grand Rapids, MI 49506-4494, or the St. Mary's Doran Foundation for the Hauenstein Neuroscience Center, 200 Jefferson Ave. SE, Grand Rapids, MI 49503.
