Martha Vela Abbott was born on December 13th, 1922 in Laurel County, Kentucky, the daughter of the late John M. and Mary Belle Johnson Lawson. She was united in marriage to William Ralph Abbott who survives. She is also survived by three brothers, Estill Lawson and wife Bertha and Norman Lawson and wife Janice of London, Clyde Lawson and wife Sabra of Berea, Kentucky, five sisters, Ruth Hampton and husband Homer, Lee Hammack and husband Robert, and Betty Gray all of London, Sue Volz and husband Bill of Ypsilanti, Michigan and Mary McDougall and husband Leonard of Chelsea, Michigan plus a host of other relatives and friends to mourn her passing.
Besides her parents she was also preceded in death by four sisters, Edith Stewart and husband Ernest, Janie Onkst and husband Estill, Phyllis Evans and husband Arvel and Joann Lawson, two brothers, Marvin Lawson and James L. (Bud) Lawson.
She was a former employee of London Laundry for 42 years and a member of the Pine Hill United Baptist Church for 73 years.
