Howard Collins , age 76, a Gig Harbor, WA resident for the past six years , died on Mother's day, May 13 2001. He was born in Fremont county Iowa , where he was married to Wanda Briley and raised two daughters, Gayla and Paula.
Howard was a Merchant Marine in World Was II and a general Builder contractor in the Sidney area for 40 years. He was active in the Sidney Chamber of Commerce, a member of the Sidney Volunteer Fire Department, the Nisnebotany Lodge #153 A.F.& A.M. in Sidney, the Scottish Rite of Omaha, NE Shrine, and the William-Jobe-Gibson American Legion Post#128 of Sidney.
Collins and his wife retired to Hilltop Lakes, Texas and for 11 years Enjoyed Friends, golf, and dancing. They both earned E.M.T. certification and actively served as members of the ambulance crew.
In 1995 they moved to Gig Harbor to be closer to family, attended Chapel Hill Presbyterian Church, and joined the Navy League. Howard was a creative spirit who took up woodcarving as am out let for his talent. He He graced family and friends with his wonderful sense of humor and a giving heart.
The legacy he leaves behind is the inspiration for the joy of living, a devoted son, brother, husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather and friend to so many. He will be deeply missed by all who know him.
