He is survived by his wife Clara; three children John O and Mrs Hattie Rose of Greene, ME; Howard P Bates of Cambridge, MA; 13 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren; two brothers Lewis E Bates of Lewiston, ME; Cyrus S Bates of Hyde Park, MA; two sisters Mrs Jennie Mower and Mrs Brssie Fogg of Greene, ME.
