Virginia Robare, 85, of Bemidji, MN, died Monday, December 26, 2011 at Neilson Place in Bemidji, where she was lovingly cared for by the staff and hospice for 5 years.

Funeral Services will be 10:00 am, Thursday, December 29, 2011 at the Cease Family Funeral Home in Bemidji, MN, with music provided by Jacque Tinsley, and Lynn Maltais. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. Interment will be at the Frohn Eastside Cemetery in Bemidji, MN under the direction of the Cease Family Funeral Home of Bemidji. There will be a reception following the interment at the Frohn Township Hall.

She was born on April 7, 1926, the daughter of Ralph and Julia (Hunter) Higgs in Childress County, Texas, and was raised in Ft. Worth, TX.

She graduated from St. Joseph School of Nursing in Ft. Worth in 1946, and married Dan Maglio the same year. They lived in Niagara Falls, NY, where they had four children together.

In 1965, Virginia became a member of the Baha'i Faith which was an integral part of her life until her death. Her greatest joy was service to the Baha'i Faith. She traveled to Haifa, Israel in 1984 and in 2004 to fufill her Baha'i Pilgrimage, visiting Baha'i holy places on and near Mt. Carmel. She truly lived a life of service to her Faith.

She married George Robare, father of Sydney and Leslie, in 1968 in Niagara Falls, NY where she worked as an Industrial Nurse until 1968 when the family moved to Waukegan, Illinois. There she worked as a nurse at a Tuberculosis Sanitarium. She and her family moved to Bemidji, MN, in 1972 where she worked as a staff nurse and eventually as the Director of Nurses at the North Country Rehabilitation Center from 1972 until her retirement in 1985.

She was lovingly known as Grandma and received much joy as she touched the lives of numerous children while working in her daughter's home daycare from 1985 through 2006. Some of her pleasures were travel teaching for her religion, reading, gardening, and spending time with her family, friends, and her dogs.

She is survived by: her Children, Anthony (Rafelina) Maglio of Novato, CA, Julie (Tim) Crawford of Bemidji, Dan (Renee) Maglio of Margate, Florida, Maria (Brad) Stay of Bemidji, Sydney (Cynthia) Robare of Bemidji, Leslie (Mark) Albini of Mebane, NC, Sister, Betty (Fred) Slawson of Deer Park, TX, Brother, Larry Higgs of Los Angeles, CA, 10 Grandchildren, 5 Great-Grandchildren, several nieces, nephews, Numerous friends, and extended family.

She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband.
