Mary Mohring was born in Germany to Johann (John) and Maria (Mary) Mohring. She immigrated with her mother and baby brother to Barre Mills, Wisconsin in 1883, a few months after her father first journeyed to Wisconsin. On her father's citizenship paperwork he states that he was from the province of Hanover. On Maria's marriage certificate to Wilhelm Miller she states that she is from Hanvies, Germany. I am not sure if this is the name of a town in Germany or if it's a misspelling of Hanover.

They farmed in the Barre Mills area until the early 1900s when the family moved to Bush Prairie (Town of Lafayette) in Monroe County, Wisconsin near Sparta.

Maria went by "Minnie" in her family and later used the name "Mary" and sometimes "Marie."

She was first married to Wilhelm (William) Miller. They were married September 16, 1903 in the St. John's Evangelical Lutheran Church in Sparta, Monroe County, Wisconsin. They had three daughters, Emma, Lena, and Margaret. Mary's first husband Robert Miller died in 1916.

Mary married her second husband, Robert Williams, April 25, 1923 in Monroe County, Wisconsin.
