We have a letter that Wesley wrote to my parents in California after Lydia died. We used to live in Preston, MN and my parents and Lydia and Wesley were great friends. They often babysat us kids and we loved them and loved being with them. I don't want this letter to be lost to the ages so I'm transcribing it here. I haven't been able to find out when Wesley died. If anyone has more information please contact me so I can make his memorial.

Dear Folks,

You will never know how glad I was to hear from you. I remember how nice it was for us to run over to your place anytime and have a jolly good time. I received 54 nice Christmas cards and I have answered only four of them and this is one of them. So glad to hear you are all doing well. I am well and getting along fairly well, but very lonesome after losing my beloved Lydia. She thought so much of you and the whole family. I am staying here alone doing the best I can. But it is not a home now, just a hang out or a place to stay. I go everyday to the Victory Cafe for dinner, make my own shabby breakfast and evening lunch.

I go to church every Sunday and shed many a tear going alone. You know we were always together and had 68 1/2 years of married life together. I will be 90 years old Feb (can't tell if 10 or 16.)My three sons and their wives are all very good to me and want me to live with them but so far I like it here and if it was the Lord's will to separate us for awhile, I accept it bravely.

They have built a large addition to the Baptist Church here this summer. I don't think they really needed it but they have more members than they had when you were here. Myron and Geneve live in Stewertville, Minnesota and both work. David is attending Baptist Bible College in Owatonna and Ronald has just finished 4 years in the Navy at Chicago.

I am now thinking of the time you had your trailer parked in our backyard, what a good time we had and how Warren made me laugh at the table.

My two sister-in-laws come to see me often and bring lots of food for me. But nobody takes the place of Dear Lydia. Well, so long for now and may God bless you all through 1973.
