At right is a print of Unterseen in 1819.
He married Oct 29, 1807 to Barbara Brunner from Iseltwald.
Johannes was a shoemaker in Spielmatte (an island in the river between Unterseen and Interlaken). Children all born in Unterseen.
They had been married just 9 years when the "hard times" of 1816-17 brought serious famine to the area, they also lived through another famine of 1845-55. Their son, Christian emigrated to Richland County, Illinois about 1844 and his brother Jakob followed in 1850.
His other children seem to have died in Unterseen, except for Johannes Jr. He probably also moved to Illinois.
Children:
1. Johannes Jr, b 1808, may have moved to Illinois, USA (did not find his death record in Switz)
2. Jakob, b 1810, moved to IL
3. Barbara, b 1812, m Gabriel Beuggert
4. Christian, b 1814, moved to IL then IN
5. Peter, b 1821
6. Margaritha, b 1823
7. Elisabeth, b 1827

[Switzerland does not keep old cemeteries. They "rent" a plot for 20 years and then reuse it for someone else.]
