Former Merchant Here Passes Away At 92; Rites Friday
Allen W. Berkhimer, who formerly operated a variety store in the Flatiron Building at Second and walnut streets, Lansdale, died last night at his home, 600 South Broad street, Lansdale. He was eighty-two.
Prior to being a merchant here, he was in the wholesale grocery business in Philadelphia. He lived retired in recent years.
Mr. Berkhimer was a native of Ambler, but lived most of his life in the Lansdale area. His parents were the late Allen and Lizzie Willett Berkhimer.
Both Mr. Berkhimer and his wife were active in Republican politics locally in years gone by.
He was a member of the Independent Order of Odd Fellows in Lansdale.
Surviving are his widow, Leona R. White Berkhimer, at home , a sister Mrs. Bessie Lowe, Chalfont and numerous nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held on Friday.
