COLUMBIA - Funeral service for Ralph Anderson Barrett, 84, were held Wednesday at 2:00 p.m. at Washington Street United Methodist Church with burial in Greenlawn Memorial Park. Visitation was held 1-2 in the church parlor prior to the service. Dunbar Funeral Home, Devine Street Chapel, assisted the family.
Mr. Barrett, husband of the late Ellen Mary Schofield Barrett, died Monday, November 24, 2008. Born in Clover, he was the son of the late Daniel Miles Barrett and Nancy Lola Brackett Barrett. He served in the U.S. Navy as an electrician and gunner in the Pacific Theatre during WW II. He was a graduate of the University of South Carolina with a degree in Business Administration and a member of Phi Kappa Sigma fraternity. Mr. Barrett was employed as a sales representative of Juvenile Products. A charter member of Columbia Country Club, he was an avid golfer and a mason. He was a member of Washington Street United Methodist Church and the Traxler Sunday School Class.
Surviving are a daughter and son-in-law, Sara Elizabeth Barrett Fisher and Edwin Fisher of Columbia; son and daughter-in-law, Danny Barrett and Candy Barrett of Columbia; grandchildren, Katie Barrett Todd and her husband, Mason, Robyn Schuyler Fisher, and Barrett Elizabeth Fisher, all of Columbia and Matthew D. Barrett of Hong Kong; and his sweetheart Nelle E. Peterson.
