He was born Nov. 2, 1934, in Evanston, to Harold and Emma (Broisus) Ellison.
He was an Airman First Class in the U.S. Air Force. He was employed by Terra Cotta Truck Service in Crystal Lake as a truck driver and dispatcher before retiring.
He was a member of the American Legion in Algonquin, the Teamsters Union 301, the Knights of Columbus, and St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church in Streamwood, where he was an usher.
Survivors include his wife, Diane Lynn Ellison, whom he married April 5, 1997; six children, Kim (Doug) Skrzypinski, Laura Cram, Jimmy Ellison Jr., Kathleen (Clint) Adkins, Rachel (Mark) Ayuol and Rick (Connie) LeDonne; a brother; a sister; and 15 grandchildren.
He was preceeded in death by his parents; his first wife, Nancy; a granddaughter; a brother; and two sisters.
The visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Monday, April 11, at Laird Funeral Home in Elgin and will continue Tuesday from 10 a.m. until the funeral Mass is celebrated at 10:30 a.m. at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church. Burial will be private.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the American Kidney Foundation.
