Tennesse and during their marriage had an affair about a month before Margaret gave birth to their daughter Alice, with Margaret's sister, Sarah Click. I had always wondered why Sarah stayed behind in Washington county when the rest of the family moved to Western Tennessee, but when I found the death certificate of Sarah's daughter Lula Mauk I was quite surprised that her father's name was listed on it. It must have been common knowledge in the family and I'm sure caused quite a ruckus.

We had always thought that William died and now I find a marriage record in Washington Co. Virginia that leads me to suspect he didn't die but ran off and married a 16 year old girl. No one seems to know what happened to him.
