BERLIN Clarence W. Abel, 65, Berlin, died at the Veterans Administration Hospital at Tomah Thursday morning. He had been ill for over a year.

Mr. Abel was born on Oct. 20, 1916, in Berlin, the son of Paul and Bertha Schroeder Abel. He married Regina Kaskavage on June 20, 1952, in Berlin. Mr. Abel worked in warehousing at Ripon Foods for 18 years. He was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church of Berlin and the Disabled American Veterans.

He was a staff sergeant in the U.S. Army during World War II, serving in Normandy, northern France, Ardennes, the Rhineland and central Europe.

He was also a member of Teamsters Union Local No. 126.

Survivors include his widow; one daughter, Mia, at home, and three sisters, Mrs. Hertha Luther and Mrs. Russell (Ella) La Point, both of Oshkosh, and Mrs. Frieda Etrick of Berlin.

Services will be at 1:30 p.m. Sunday at St. John's Lutheran Church with the Rev. David R. Meyer officiating. Burial will be in the Oakwood Cemetery in Berlin. Friends may call at the Wiecki Funeral Home from 4 to 8 p.m. Saturday and from 12:30 p.m. until the time of services on Sunday.
