Joanna Rooksberry, 78, of Jasonville, passed away at 5:25 a.m., today, Nov. 29, 2002 at Union Hospital in Terre Haute. Born Jan. 6, 1924 in Jasonville, she was the daughter of Moses E. and Frankie V. (McClung) Thomas. She was employed by Green Thumb and worked in the Jasonville mayor's office for 23 years. She attended Shakamak Community Church. Survivors include, three daughters and a son-in-law, Anna and Tom Bennett of Jasonville, and Catherine Hansons and Patricia Miller both of Jasonville; one son and daughter-in-law, Francis and Toni Rooksberry of Jasonville; one sister, Alma Salesman of Jasonville; 31 grandchildren and great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Floyd Jr. Rooksberry on May 26, 1972; two sons, David and Thomas Michael Rooksberry; three sisters, Esther Tignor, Eleanor McDaniel and Ruth Harrison; three brothers, Homer, Paul and Abe Thomas; and her parents. Funeral services will be at McClanahan-Lee Funeral Home in Jasonville at 2 p.m. on Sunday with the Rev. Chris McKinney and the Rev. Harold Thomas officiating. Burial will follow at Peavey Cemetery in Howesville.
