His father John Patrick Darcy Sr. was born in Coon, Co. Kilkenny, Muckalee Parish, Ireland on April 13, 1858, Married Katherine McGrath in Ireland, and immediately moved to Warrington, England, where they lived for six years. While there 3 children were born, John Patrick, Jr., Mark P. and Margraret. They arrived in the USA in on May 6, 1886. They moved to Creighton, Knox Co., Nebraska, where he farmed. They arrived on the SS Circassian at Quebec, Canada on May 3, 1886 and crossed into the USA by train at Buffalo, NY. Thomas Patrick Darcy was also a passenger on the SS Circassian and the train.
John Patrick Darcy Jr's. first wife Mary Schwartz Darcy gave birth to Evelyn and Helen, and the next delivery Mary died a few weeks later and Edward, the baby, lived. John and Mary had loved each other, were compatible, happy together. John married Anna Schneider Ellingson, a widow with a daughter. a son died as a child. The last time I saw Uncle John in 1955, he was in the hospital dying. I believe he had a blood clot, or something else beyond medical treatment at that time. He was conscious, peaceful, smiling, he died December 9, 1955 at the age of 74.
In 1908 John Patrick Darcy Jr. married Mary Schwartz in Creighton, Knox County, Nebrasaka at St. Ludger Catholic church. Mary was born in 1885 in Carroll, Iowa and died Jan 21, 1921.
John P Darcy, Jr. and Anna Ellingson were united in marriage on Wednesday morning Jan 19, 1922 at the St Ludger's Catholic Church at 7:30 o'clock by Rev Father Windolph reading the marriage lines. The couple was attended by Mr. and Mrs. John Duras. Immediately after the ceremony and congratulations, the wedding party and relatives repaired to the Ellington home where an elaborate wedding breakfast was served.
These people have practically grown up in our midst and both come from highly respected parentage and claim a large circle of friends. They left on the morning passenger train for Omaha where they will enjoy a short honeymoon and will return to Creighton where they will make their home until March 1st when they will move to Mr. Darcy's farm south of town.
